Chibok: The Father’s Stories

Send a message of hope to Nigeria…

On 14 April 2014, Islamist militant group Boko Haram stormed the Chibok State Secondary School and abducted more than 200 girls. It has now been almost two years since this tragic event took place. With no news on where the ‘Chibok girls’ are being held, their parents need our encouragement.

Through local churches, Open Doors has been visiting and supporting the Chibok parents by providing aid, trauma counselling and delivering your messages of support.

One father responded: “I have read so many messages, but my heart still pains. However, the messages in these letters you delivered brought about a lasting peace that transcends my understanding. I really appreciate the people who wrote those letters to me. I am encouraged.”

Fill in the form to write to the Chibok parents. Let them know that we have not forgotten about their daughters, and that Christians are continuing to pray for their release.

Some tips on what, and what not, to write…

  • Write in simple English, and keep it short – less than 100 words (we’ve given you 500 characters).
  • You could write out your prayer for them.
  • You could write down a Bible verse for them.
  • Let them know they are not forgotten and that you are praying for them.
  • Please don’t mention Open Doors.
  • Please don’t criticise other religions, religious extremists or the Nigerian government.
  • We will only pass on your first name with the messages, so don’t include your full name in the message itself.
  • Show sensitivity – please don’t focus on the missing girls, or share about how great your life is, and all the things you have.
  • Please do not send proposals to help.

Thanks – following the guidelines means more messages will get to the families!

  • Send your support to the shattered community. Leave a message of prayer and comfort here and Open Doors will ensure that it reaches the traumatised families.

We support people who are beaten, tortured,
imprisoned, falsely accused, and hated simply for following Jesus.
