How one family fled

A year ago, Islamic State attacked Mosul, a city home to thousands of Christians and other minority groups. Watch the video below to see how one family escaped Mosul as Islamic State approached. What we’re doing

Open Doors has been working in Iraq supporting the church for over 20 years.

In cooperation with local partners and churches, Open Doors is supporting the church in Iraq through:

  • Presence ministry
  • Training – such as trauma Training, Biblical Training, training of church leaders and Muslim Background Believers
  • Bible and Christian literature distribution and supporting Kurdish language translation
  • Socio-Economic Development projects (SED) such as microloans for Internally Displaced People
  • Structural aid – such as church repairs
  • Crisis relief – such as relief aid for those fleeing from Islamic State from mid-2014 to now.

Please pray…

  • Pray for this family, and the thousands like them who have had to flee home, leaving all behind them
  • Pray for healing of physical and mental trauma’s that many art still dealing with a year after fleeing
  • Ask for peace and an end to the fighting in Iraq and Syria
  • Pray for the persecutors. Ask that many will have miraculous encounters with God, changes of heart and attitudes
