Loads of us know what it is to walk with God through tough times. Whether we’ve experienced loss, illness, bad relationships or whatever, certain situations can both shock and deepen our faith.
But through it all, we need to cling to God, trusting that He is bigger, stronger and always loving. And that’s what this song is all about – it’s by our friend Joy, from St Albans church in Norwich. Joy spent a bit of time travelling with Open Doors, an experience which helped refine some of the lyrics she sings in this song. Check it out, grab the lyrics below and be encouraged to walk with Jesus through the fire…
Lord I know that you are able,
Lord I know that you are strong,
In the midst of a great battle,
Still I know that you have won.
My heart,
Trusts in you,
Rests in you,
Belongs to you.
Our eyes,
Look to you,
Turn to you,
For you are God!
Even though I walk through the fire,
I will not be burnt,
Your great love is with me.
Even though I’m thrown into darkness,
I’ll not fear,
You are here and you’ll guide me.
When the ground I’m on is shaken,
And my soul is overwhelmed,
Still forever you are faithful,
Still forever you will stand.
My heart,
Trusts in you,
Rests in you,
Belongs to you.
Our eyes,
Look to you,
Turn to you,
For you are God!
Even though I walk through the fire,
I will not be burnt,
Your great love is with me.
Even though I’m thrown into darkness,
I’ll not fear,
You are here and you’ll guide me.
You never leave,
You never leave,
My rescuer, you’re with me. (x3)
Even though I walk through the fire,
I will not be burnt,
Your great love is with me.
Even though I’m thrown into darkness,
I’ll not fear,
You are here and you’ll guide me.
We support people who are beaten, tortured,
imprisoned, falsely accused, and hated simply for following Jesus.
