  • Wake up and smell the bacon…

Do we need to wake up and get the reality of what is happening to the Church around the world? Eddie, the president of Open Doors in the UK and Ireland, gave a talk last summer at Soul Survivor exploring just that subject and here is a clip of it where he gets inspired by the faith of persecuted Christians from North Korea.

Have a listen, and if you find it inspiring or challenging, make sure you share!

  • Raise your game…

Let’s not beat around the bush. Following Jesus is a massive commitment. It’s something we shouldn’t take lightly, but all to often, in the busy-ness of the rest of our lives our faith can get shunted down the pecking order. School, uni, work, mates, money, relationships all demand our attention and working out how to fit Jesus in to the mess and stress of our lives is something many of us struggle with. We know we need to raise our game and commit. We know we need to choose what our heads and hearts will make the most important thing in our lives.

Have a listen to this little 6 minute clip of a talk given by Eddie Lyle, the president of Open Doors in the UK and Ireland. He tells about the time he visited the Joseph community in Lahore, Pakistan. Not long before his trip, this small, economically poor Christian community had been attacked. Homes and churches had been burnt to the ground. But, despite their poverty and need, before rebuilding their homes, the community rebuilt the church. Their heads and hearts had decided what was most important.

In meeting this community of people, Eddie says he needs to raise his game. What’s your response to hearing about them?
