Iraq and Syria: Thank you!

Thank you! You helped to keep hope alive in Syria and Iraq.

In Syria and Iraq, your gifts have kept hope alive for struggling Christians. Whether you gave to our Iraq and Syria Appeal or bought a Secret Santa present over Christmas, your gifts have helped to make a difference.

“We provided blankets for the winter; there is no fuel to heat the homes and it can be very cold in the winter,” says Pastor Samuel, one of our partners in Syria. “If the church did not help the people with food parcels, if we did not help the suffering families who have no income, how would they survive? Who would help if the church doesn’t help?”

Watch the video to see how your support provides children with the chance to live some kind of normal life, even in the hardest circumstances. Their dreams of a future – of a safe place to live and careers as engineers, architects, doctors – are still alive.

With your help

  • Open Doors provides food and hygiene kits for over 10,000 families every month in Syria through local churches and partners.
  • In Iraq we are supporting 15,000 families – around 120,000 people – with much needed support.
  • The church in these places is seeing people find new life in Christ. “God is turning the bad into good,” says an Open Doors worker. “I am amazed how many Muslims have converted to Christ. I see full churches now.”
  • The good news is being shared. We expect to have delivered 100,000 books, including Bibles, gospels and children’s Bibles, to Syria in 2015.
  • Thank you for making this possible. But Syria and Iraq are just the tip of the iceberg. The new 2016 Open Doors World Watch List shows that persecution around the world is growing. So, please continue to pray, give and speak out for your persecuted church family.

Please continue to pray for Syria and Iraq. And, if you haven’t done so already, please check out our appeal page to see 5 simple ways you can help…

Open Doors is committed to providing long-term support for Christians, not only in the Middle East, but throughout the world. Thank you for standing with them.

We support people who are beaten, tortured,
imprisoned, falsely accused, and hated simply for following Jesus.
