Abebu, is a widow and mother of eight children from Ethiopia. When the Covid-19 crisis hit, she struggled to provide for her children – whilst they were safe from the virus, the restrictions in Ethiopia meant she could no longer work and make an income. And because her children would get a decent meal at school, when the schools closed, she had to find ways to another eight people. Things were not looking good.
She couldn’t turn to the church for help. The churches were closed and therefore they received hardly any gifts or tithes. Even if her church wanted to help, they had no money to do so.
“I was scared. I faced serious problems. But God caused people from abroad to support us.”
Thanks to your support, we were able to send money to Abebu, to help her and her children survive.
“I was scared. If I had not received your financial help, my children could have died. I have bought food supplies that we desperately needed, like maize, teff, garlic, and oil. For now, I am free of troubles.”
Your generosity, prayers and care have reminded Abebu and her children that they have a church family around the world who deeply care for them.
“May God the Lord bless these people and help them to follow Him till the end. Praise God, for He helped me in my need.”
This help also encourages her to stand strong in her faith. “The word of God says, ‘Be joyful in hope. Endure in this world’s suffering.’”
Lastly she asks: “Pray for me that God continues to help and protect me. That He may protect my children and I from this pandemic and its consequences.”
