India: Geetika’s new vegetable business!

February 21, 2022

Geetika* is happy. Since becoming a Christian, after being miraculously healed of an illness, the single mother of two from India has faced hostility from local people who don’t believe Indians should be Christian. But because she knows Jesus, she has found true peace, and your support is helping her provide a healthy living for her family.

“I thought I had faced enough challenges in life and that, when I came to Jesus, everything would be okay, but this was not the case,” she shares. “Instead, I faced ridicule for my faith in Jesus. But I have to say, this opposition is nothing compared to the miserable life I had lived without Jesus. Because Jesus is with me, I am ready to face everything. No problem is too great.”

“I know people say all the wrong things about Christians and Jesus, but I do not worry,” she continues. “All I know is that I was healed, and my life is full of peace – a peace that I have never known before. Even now, when the criticism of others makes me feel sad or when I fall sick, I ask my daughter to read the Bible and then call up my pastor to pray for me.”

After seeing Geetika’s struggles, Open Doors local partners provided her with a vegetable cart, enabling her to expand her business by reaching more people and so become more self-sufficient – and already it’s making a massive difference to her family.

“Before I had the cart, I used to sell vegetables in a small shed,” Geetika explains. “Now I can take it to various places and the earnings are more than before. I thank Open Doors partners for this initiative. I can provide healthy food for my children, and I am happy.”

“However, I must work hard,” she continues. “I go to the vegetable market every morning at 4am to purchase vegetables. The vegetables that I buy, I sell for the next two to three days for good profit most of the time. I am so glad my son is also growing up – he helps me sell the vegetables in the evenings. I am thankful to the Lord for all His blessings.

“What Open Doors partners have done for us is not what everyone can do in today’s world. They listened to our concerns and purchased things that helped our earnings grow. They helped empower us, and we are so grateful. Thank you so much.”

Pray now…

  • Thank God for the blessing this help has been to both Christians and Muslims, and pray that the love shown will lead to more people giving their lives to Jesus
  • That the Holy Spirit will soften the hearts of those radicalised following the Taliban’s takeover, and that God will block the influence of extremist ideas in the area
  • For the protection of believers in the region, and ask God to strengthen, encourage and embolden them in their faith.
