Iraq: Returning and rebuilding – new video!

Louy and his family had to flee Bartella when IS invaded in 2014. Now they’ve been able to return – and, thanks to your support, Open Doors partners were able to rebuild their house and rebuild their hope. Like hundreds of Iraqi Christians, they’re delighted to be home! 

Thanks to your support, families like Louy’s have been able to return and rebuild their homes. Open Doors partners have so far been able to restore 1274 houses for Christian families across the Nineveh Plain, including 300 in Bartella. Thousands of Christians have been able to come home from the exile caused by IS.

Now that they are home, they are showing God’s love to others in Bartella as it begins to recover from the traumas it has experienced. The town has a mix of Christians and Muslims. As 12-year-old Sharbel says, “We have more Muslims in the class, but we’re all children of the same age. We stand united, we should hold hands together.”
