Alisher* is pastor of a secret church in Central Asia. In his country only one in ten of the population has access to a Bible and religious literature is banned.
For five years, Alisher has secretly transported and distributed literature and Bibles. After receiving books from an Open Doors coordinator he secretly delivers books to underground churches in different parts of the country.
“I take literature and Bibles to different churches,” Alisher explains. “The literature I bring is very diverse and covers different subjects. Of course I also bring the most popular book – the Bible.”
“Alisher is a very important person for us,” says Rasoul*, pastor of an underground church. “Without the literature that Alisher brings to us, it would be extremely difficult to lead the Church.”
In Central Asia, Open Doors distributed 302,500 Bibles and Christian books in 2014. “Our hope is that, through each book, God will touch the hearts of those people who seek Him and those who have never heard of Jesus,” says Alexey, literature distribution coordinator for the region.
“Next month I’ll bring Bibles and children’s Bibles into the villages,” says Alisher. “Not everyone has the opportunity to get a Bible. We need to make a difference. Delivering Bibles and literature is risky, but I intended to continue in this work. Faith comes by hearing.”
In 2014, Open Doors delivered over 3.1 million Bibles, books and Christian resources in countries where such things are prohibited or difficult to obtain.
Open Doors distributes Bibles and Christian resources, so that secret believers can be nourished with God’s Word. Read more about how, with your support, Open Doors helped persecuted Christians around the world in 2014.

Since 1955, Open Doors have been sending Bibles and smuggling hope into countries where God’s word is outlawed. £10 can buy, send and deliver a Bible to a young Christian facing persecution.

imprisoned, falsely accused, and hated simply for following Jesus.
