Colombia

By Dan Etheridge

When: 12th – 23rd August 2016
Cost: Approximately £1600
Who: You need to be over 18, love children, have loads of energy and be comfortable leading small groups
Closing date: 1st June

What will it involve:
The trip is an incredible opportunity to serve in an Open Doors supported Children’s Centre. Many of the children have experienced trauma and pain as a result of a brutal civil war. Rebel soldiers have targeted Christian leaders who refuse to support their cause, and many of the children have lost family members because of violence. The centre is an amazing place where children get a chance to learn and study, as well as have fun and become part of a bigger family.

A typical day volunteering at the centre will involve morning devotions with teachers, tutors or children, helping out with various classes (English, craft activities, swimming, sports, etc), hanging out and playing with the children, and times of Bible study and worship.
