1. Pay per view
Use the England v China match on Tuesday 1 August (midday kick-off) to host a unique secret church gathering. Watch the game over a lunchtime Chinese takeaway and spend time beforehand or afterwards (or at half-time) having whisper worship and praying for Christians in China. What better way to put yourself in the shoes of our Chinese family? Charge a small entry free or invite donations.
2. Sponsored soccer skills
Take on a sponsored football activity, such as:
- A five-hour football match with friends, family and people from your church (Why five hours? One for each team on the World Watch List at the Women’s World Cup)
- A keepy-uppy challenge involving 300 keepy-uppies a day throughout the tournament!
3. Five-a-side tournament
Host a five-a-side tournament one afternoon or evening during the Women’s World Cup (choose a break day so you don’t miss any games) and charge each player/team an entry fee. Give the proceeds to Open Doors to help fund vital work with Christians who are facing injustice and persecution.
4. Sweepstake
Hold a simple World Cup sweepstake and charge £3 per entry (that should generate £96!). The person who picks the winning team will be crowned champion and have bragging rights. You might want to use some of the takings as prize money (you can sort out the details) but some of it could be sent to Open Doors to keep tackling persecution.
